The Universities of the Western Balkan region that will benefit from the direct actions of the project concerning the veterinary public health and food safety will be: the Agricultural University of Tirana (AUT) with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Korca (UNKO) with the Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and the University of Zenica (UNZE) with the Faculty of Medicine. Furthermore, from this project is expected to benefit all actors related to veterinary medicine, public health, and food safety by increasing the level of education and improving the cooperation between the partner Universities and all the stakeholders. To date, in Albania PGSs are present only in the field of Human Medicine and this will be the first time that faculties of non-medical area will offer a PGS educational programme. Indeed, the Albanian legislation recognizes as third level of education the PGSs with a duration of at least 2 years and 120 ECTS, while BiH’s laws do not permit the accreditation of educational programmes as third level with less than 180 ECTS. The University of the EU that will participate to the project will be the University of Milano (UMIL) with the Department of veterinary Medicine and animal science and the University of Porto (UPORTO) with the Institute of Biomedical Science Abel Salazar (ICBAS).
